Today, November 10, 2023 marks the 100^th birthday of Hachikō (ハチ公November 10, 1923 – March 8, 1935) the Japanese Akita dog remembered for his remarkable loyalty to his owner, Hidesaburō Ueno, for whom he continued to wait for over nine years following Ueno's death. The statue of Hachikō outside Shibuya Station in Tokyo remembers Japan’s most famous dog, renowned for his exceptional loyalty in waiting faithfully for his dead master to return for almost a decade. This year marks the centenary of Hachikō’s birth.
